Care experienced young people wanted as ‘Ambassadors’ to help improve care for all

  • 18 August 2020

A National Voice is looking for 18 care-experienced young people, aged 16-25 from all around England, who are motivated, innovative and creative, and keen to help A National Voice grow and make a bigger impact nationally.

A National Voice is the ‘National Children in Care Council’ for young people in care and care leavers who are passionate about improving the care system through the voices the young people who experience it. This is done through local and national campaigns, influencing government and creating opportunities for young people to come together to share their views.

You do not need to be an expert or to have done any work like this before, just have a willingness to take on new challenges and develop your skills.

A National Voice welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and aims to have a diverse, inclusive range of Ambassadors to reflect those it serves.

The role

Being an Ambassador is fun but also comes with responsibility. Ambassadors not only represent their own views, but also represent and advocate the opinions and wishes of children in care and care leavers from their local area.

The board of Ambassadors will shape A National Voice’s campaigns and will design activities that allow all children in care and care leavers across England to get involved in initiatives that allow them to influence decisions that affect their lives.

Ambassadors will also act as representatives and spokespeople for A National Voice and Coram Voice in the media and elsewhere.

How to apply

If you are interested in developing a broad range of skills, experience and networks, and in helping to ensure the voices of those in care are heard so that the care system can change for the better, find out how you can apply at the Coram Voice website here.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 4th September 2020.

Also head on over to twitter and look up #ANationalVoice and follow @CoramVoice to be notified when we’re holding virtual events and campaigns, or sign up to emails.

Local CICC leader, Looked After Children’s Team Head, Leaving Care Head, or DCS are also encouraged to sign up to ANV’s mailing list to be updated on the range of A National Voice activities and opportunities and find out how to get involved as we take A National Voice across the country, virtually and hopefully soon, in person.
