Coram, which runs leading independent adoption services in London, Cambridgeshire and the East Midlands, is supporting this campaign to try and encourage more people to consider adoption.
National Adoption Week (15-21 October) is a campaign run by First4Adoption, the national information service for adoption in England, and the theme this year is ‘the adopter’. The campaign aims to raise awareness of adoption through sharing real-life adoption stories and de-bunking common adoption myths.
Coram is hosting free adoption information events in London, Cambridgeshire and the East Midlands for those interested in adoption to come along and find out more about the process.
Coram will also be highlighting the lifelong support it provides for families who adopt through its adoption services. This includes support throughout the adoption process, post-adoption parenting support and creative therapies to help adopted children deal with loss and emotional trauma. Coram will also be highlighting the stories of people who adopted with them.
The National Adoption Week Awards are also taking place during the week and CoramBAAF’S John Simmonds has been shortlisted for ‘The Gareth Marr Award for Lifetime Achievement’. Results will be announced at the ceremony on 16 October.
You can follow the campaign on social media throughout the week using the hashtag #SupportAdoption.
