Peter Capaldi urges the public to get behind Coram’s Crowdfunding Campaign this National Read a Book Day

  • 5 September 2018

So far the campaign has reached almost 30% of its target, meaning that we are now able to send copies to every school and library in London for the new school term. However we are relying on more support to enable every school child to receive the book, prompting Peter’s Capaldi’s call for more donations.

The book tells the inspiring yet largely unknown story of our remarkable founder Thomas Coram, celebrating the 350th anniversary of his birth. The book, aimed at 7-11 year olds, is created and designed by Robin Ollington and is beautifully illustrated with original watercolour drawings by Albany Wiseman.

In addition to his new video rallying for support, Peter also authored the book’s foreword and says that “our hope is that by sharing in this story, you will see that when you fight for what is right, true and lasting change can happen.”

By supporting our campaign, you can help every child discover the origin of children’s rights and the story of the visionary that made it possible.

You can also find out more about the fascinating life of Thomas Coram and how he became a trailblazer for children’s rights on our new website coramstory.org.uk. The website brings together our rich cultural heritage with the work we continue today, fighting for children and young people’s rights and placing their voices at the centre of everything we do.
