Coram Adopt Anglia, which recruits and supports adopters within a 50-mile radius of Cambridge, was judged overall by Ofsted as “Good”.
The report found that adopters were very satisfied and highlighted the value of post-adoption support which is offered on a long-term basis to families, creating a lasting relationship with the service.
Jeanne Kaniuk, Coram’s Head of Adoption, said: “Significantly, Ofsted found that children placed by Coram Adopt Anglia thrive due to the stability and love of their adoptive families, and develop physically, emotionally and educationally.
“It is wonderful that the child-centred approach and expertise of our practitioners in preparing and matching families has been recognised in this way.
“The service’s innovative Concurrent Planning work, which involves fostering babies who may need adoption in future, offering them greater stability, has also been highlighted.
“We are very keen to hear from prospective carers who might consider looking after very young children through this pioneering approach.”
Coram Adopt Anglia is one of Coram’s three dedicated adoption branches, along with the London service and Coram Adopt East Midlands.
Coram’s adoption service has one of the highest placement success rates in the country. Coram is specialist in finding families for older children, siblings and children from BME backgrounds, otherwise deemed “hard to place”.
Coram has been pioneering Concurrent Planning for more than 10 years, a service which places babies with specialist foster carers while their long-term future is being decided. This is so that babies who cannot return to their birth parents can be adopted by their carers, avoiding unnecessary and often traumatic disruption.
Along with finding loving, permanent adoptive families for children in care, Coram works in partnership with local authorities to help improve adoption services.
