The High Court has today opened up the possibility of legal aid being granted in a significant number of school exclusions appeals following a case brought by Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC).

Local authorities are routinely failing in their legal duties to children aged between 16-17 years old who become homeless, leaving them without the support they are entitled to, according to new research published today by the Coram Institute for Children.

The High Court has ruled that the Home Office breached its duty to provide adequate asylum accommodation to a mother and her severely disabled child following a successful judicial review initiated by Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC).

With just days to go till the general election, children and young people have been conspicuous by their absence in the campaign to date as the parties have traded blows over their respective programmes. Coram has launched the UK’s largest online resource covering every aspect of school exclusions – schoolexclusionshub.org.uk. The School Exclusions Hub gives professionals, charities, and community organisations working with families and young people the vital information they need to understand the exclusion process and challenge exclusion.
