Claim now for extra support for your adopted child at school

  • 4 January 2016

Mum with two teenage childrenThe Pupil Premium gives extra funding to state schools to help support disadvantaged pupils from Reception to Year 11 – including but not restricted to those adopted from care.

To enable a child’s school to claim the allowance of £1,900, parents should inform the school that their child is adopted and provide supporting evidence, for example, a photocopy of the Adoption Order (with sensitive information concealed). Parents must self-declare before 21 January, 2016, the date by which schools complete the annual School Census. This will then trigger the payment of the Pupil Premium to the school for the next financial year.
