  • 24 October 2014

The British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) holds an annual awards ceremony during National Adoption Week (3-7th November) to recognise best practice in adoption. BAAF reported receiving a record number of entries for this year’s awards and commented on the high quality of the selected shortlist.

One of Coram’s joint-projects, First4Adoption, which provides adoption information services for England was also shortlisted in a new category, Digital Champion of the Year.

Coram’s adoption services are led by Jeanne Kaniuk who is currently nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Association of Social Work. Jeanne said:

“At Coram we put the needs of children who are often extremely vulnerable at the heart of our decisions.

“Creating a new family for them is delicate and skilled work, but when it is done successfully it is absolutely transformational.

“We are excited and proud that the quality of our adoption service has been recognised with a nomination for this prestigious award.”

The full list of nominees, including Local Authority Adoption Service and Social Worker of the Year is available here.

The awards ceremony will be attended by Children and Families Minister Edward Timpson MP and takes place on Tuesday 4 November.
