CCLC is acting as the coordinating partner of the project “Unlocking Children’s Rights: Strengthening the capacity of professionals in the EU to fulfil the rights of vulnerable children.”
This innovative training, which forms part of a project co-funded by the Fundamental Rights & Citizenship Programme of the European Union, has been developed in partnership with Coram Voice and 10 other organisations across the EU, as well as a team of key international experts, including CCLC’s Director of International Programmes and Research, Professor Carolyn Hamilton.
It is aimed at professionals and practitioners working with children in justice, residential care, and detention settings on child-sensitive justice and communication skills, to contribute towards the broader aim of respecting, protecting and fulfilling children’s rights and ensuring that children are able to participate in decisions affecting them. It is also a unique opportunity for professionals and practitioners to continue developing their specialist expertise in working with children as well as contribute to research and develop training that will be disseminated across the EU via an online learning platform at the conclusion of the project. The UK-based training sessions form part of the piloting process of the training materials that is taking place in the UK and nine other EU countries. The first round of pilots took place in 2015 in Bulgaria, Greece, Ireland and Poland, with excellent results; around 92% of the participants gave the training an overall rating of very good or excellent.
There is no charge for participation in the training course, and refreshments and course materials will be provided to all participants. Travel expenses will also be reimbursed up to £20 provided that valid receipts and tickets are provided in hard copy at the training sessions.
