The 22nd annual Childcare Survey is based on surveys from local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales, which were returned to Coram Family and Childcare between November 2022 and February 2023.
In the survey, Coram Family and Childcare finds that childcare costs continue to rise – this year up by 5.6 per cent for those aged under two to £148 per week for just a part time place.
Key findings
- An increased number of local authorities saying that there is not enough provision to meet the demand for childcare place with just half of local authorities reporting enough childcare for children under two in England.
- The situation is particularly desperate for disabled children; only 18 per cent of local authorities in England have enough childcare places for children with disabilities.
